TREND ALERT: PURPLE OMBRE LIPS

So, the ombre trend first started a few years ago now with our hair. This trend has been one that has stuck around and has transformed many peoples looks - I have had very subtle ombre in my hair before and I loved it and I'm planning on getting in back soon to give my hair a little make-over. Now this trend is spreading and my new favourite style of ombre is for the lips. Throughout the years we have seen this make up look on the runways of Dior, Miu Miu and many other high end designers and it has now become a bit of a high street trend. Here's how I achieve this look and the products that I used...

Step 1: Line lips with dark lip liner. I have used MUA Intense Colour Eye Liner in Berry
Wine (I know - "Eyeliner? Whaaaaat?!" Does exactly the same thing, honest). This
eyeliner was £1.00 from Superdrug. I like to slightly over-line my lips when doing
this look and then start to bring the colour slightly in towards the centre of the lips but
not right the way in.

Step 2: Fill in the centre of the lip with a lighter lip colour. I used Rimmel Lasting
Finish by Kate Lipstick in colour 28 which is a nice light pink colour. I bought
this a few weeks ago and it got thrown to the bottom of my make up bag because I
didn't like the colour on its own but I think with this lip liner it works perfectly.

Step 3: Blot lips together to blend the two colours together. Then I just re-apply the
lip liner and lipstick as needed. I usually just go round my lip line with the darker
colour to create a stronger line and then line round the outside of my lips with a light
coloured concealer to make the lips stand out more. Here I have just used a little of my
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair with a small angled brush.

This look is fast becoming one of my favourites to change things up a little for my night out make up. These two colours are great! I also like to use a brown eyeliner and a light brown lipstick to create a more subtle daytime look.

FASHION WISHLIST: MISSGUIDED & BOOHOO

This time of year is one of my favourites for shopping! It's the time of year that layering is still acceptable (even though its nearly June, it's still pretty chilly!!), nice light colours are making there way into the shops with lots of lace and not to forget festival fashion starting to arrive in stores - my fave!

Here are my top picks from Boohoo & Missguided for this month...

Left to Right:

Sleeveless Duster Coat - £55 - Missguided
Lace Short Sleeve Playsuit - £35 - Missguided

I am also a fringe addict and this is a trend that I have been loving for years so I am obsessed with the cropped fringed biker jacket and cannot wait to get my hands on this! I think it will be a great investment piece and I will get a lot of wear out of it over the coming months. The lace playsuit stood out to me as It is super cute and could be dressed up with heels and a statement necklace for a night out or dressed down with a denim jacket and sandals for a cute day outfit.

Left to Right:

Faux Leather Skirt - £12 - Missguided
Silky Paisley Print Shirt Dress - £28 - Missguided
Natalia A Line Skirt - £10 - Boohoo

I have been really loving the khaki trend after seeing so many celebs wearing this lately such as Kim K, Charlotte Crosby and the girls from TOWIE. I feel that this is a colour that is majorly lacking in my wardrobe so I shall definitely be adding some of these items to my closet. I also think this paisley print shirt has a very understated cool style and would look great with a pair of fringed sandals and a leather jacket thrown on top.

Left to Right:

Tassel Aztec Heeled Sandal - £35 - Missguided

I have been on the lookout for a pair of sandals that could be worn during the day but also versatile and nice enough to be worn on a night out too. I think these fringed aztec sandals from Missguied will do this perfectly, and a great selling point is that the heel isn't too high so won't make your feet too sore! The statement necklace is the perfect accessory for jazzing up a boring everyday outfit - I think it will look great with jeans a simple black t-shirt and some gold sandals. I also thought I better include these snake skin shoes from Missguided - They are just gorgeous - How could you not?!

L'OREAL COLOR RICHE LIPSTICK MAGNETIC CORAL REVIEW

This is my first blog post so please be nice. I’m sure I’m going to have a lot to improve on as I continue to write posts. Over the last few years I have become increasingly interested in blogging, but up until now I have just been an avid reader– so I thought it was about time that I give it a go too, since I spend so much time reading other peoples blogs. I was unsure what to write my first post on so I took to my trusty handbag to fish out the beauty product that I have been loving the most recently – I thought this would be a great place to start.

373 Magnetic Coral - £6.99

Selfie Time!!! :)

This product is a L’Oréal Lipstick from their Colour Riche Collection in the colour Magnetic Coral. I came across this lipstick on a recent visit to Superdrug. I had my eye on MAC Vegas Volt to match an outfit I had put together for a night out, but I was unable to get to a MAC counter and delivery wouldn’t have gotten to me on time so I had set out to find something similar. I still haven’t purchased Vegas Volt so I can’t say how similar they actually are but I was happy with the colour and it went very well with my baby blue outfit. I am still planning to buy the MAC lipstick so I will do a comparison post on these two lipsticks once I have done this.

The L’Oréal Colour Riche Lipstick sits well on the lips, gives a slight sheen. I like the creamy consistency and the way it feels on the lips. The only thing I would say is that it doesn't taste very nice...so try and not get any in your mouth and definitely don't lick your lips! Another point I would make is that the colour doesn’t last very long on the lips. I tend to re-apply lipstick far too often when its not actually needed but this one did actually need to be touched up quite regularly to keep the colour looking vivid and bright. I would say that the colour of this lipstick needs to be built up – one layer just doesn’t have that ‘va va voom factor’ that you can achieve from this lipstick after a few swipes. I guess this is a good thing for people who prefer a more subtle look but I personally like a very bright lip. Overall though, I do really like this lipstick.

I have been wearing this colour a lot since I bought it a couple of weeks ago and it is a great coral colour that I think will get a lot of use out of throughout the summer. Bright pink is my holy grail, go-to lip colour so I have been trying to mix things up a little recently and try something different. Sometimes I have found it difficult to find a red toned lipstick to suit my fair complexion and blonde hair but I think this one does the trick perfectly and may be converting me from my Barbie pink ways.
